It can be challenging to keep the carpets of northern beaches clean. This is especially true with so much sun and sand. Even if you vacuum frequently, it always seems there’s something under the surface. There are some easy DIY carpet cleaning tips you can use to keep your carpets clean and looking new – additional info!
The Baking-Soda Brilliance
Get some baking soda. This stuff works wonders on carpets. Sprinkle generously and allow it to sit on your carpet. Give it at minimum 15 minutes. More if possible. It absorbs all of that foul odor and dirt. Vacuum it afterwards. It will not only make your carpet cleaner but it will also have a much fresher smell.
Vinegar is the unsung hero
Vinegar doesn’t have to be reserved for salads. Add equal parts vinegar and water to a sprayer. This mix is ideal for spot-cleaning. Do you have a stain in your carpet? Spray the stain on and let it sit for a while. Blot with a soft cloth. Avoid rubbing the area. You do not want it to spread.
Ice Cubes for Furniture Dents
No one likes the annoying dents that heavy furniture leaves on carpets. They look like small craters on a carpet that is otherwise flawless. What’s an easy fix? Ice cubes. Place an ice-cube into each dent. Once the water absorbs the fibers can be fluffed with a fork or fingers. It’s almost like giving your carpet new life.
Iron Out Stains
Use the iron to remove those really stubborn stains. To start, vacuum to remove all loose dirt. Then, dampen a cloth and apply it to the stain. Heat the iron and run it over the fabric for approximately 30 seconds. The heat from the iron and the pressure applied to the carpet should help transfer the stain onto the cloth.
