Sometimes the nose does not heal properly after a rhinoplasty – important link! A revision rhinoplasty is performed to fix the problem in these cases. The cartilage grafts are harvested to restore the proper breathing or desired result. Rhinoplasty can be performed for many reasons, some of which are typical and others that are not. The patient may dislike the physical characteristics of his nose. It could be that he or she thinks his nose is too large, flat, etc. Unusual reasons tend to be unhealthy. Someone may get an operation to become popular or to attract people. What ever the reason, it’s important to know the limitations of the surgery and what it can achieve. It may be easier to correct some things than others because it is much easier to remove something than to add.
Its primary purpose is to help you breathe easily and comfortably. It can become difficult to breathe when someone is suffering from breathing issues, day or night, during play and rest. People may become anxious, depressed or act antisocially if they can’t participate in sports and other activities with high or medium impacts. It is possible that scar tissue could partially or completely block the airways, causing the air to forcefully pass through. Preparing emotionally for surgery is crucial to avoid shock and depression later. Anesthesia and medications can alter one’s outlook. Relaxation could reduce the recovery time and help you progress faster.
During revision surgery, the patient is given the chosen anesthesia that was discussed with the surgeon in advance. The incision areas are marked with a magic marker pen if it is an open surgery. A solution of Lidocaine, epinephrine and saline, or an epinephrine/bicarbonate/lidocaine mixture is then injected. Epinephrine has a vasoconstrictor effect. This can cause excessive skin bleeding. Incisions will be made in the nose, if the procedure is done openly. These are along the top columella of the nose and on the outer edges of the upper rims. The skin and cartilages are separated very carefully using a pair like those below.
Closed technique is similar to open technique in that it also involves skin and cartilage dissection and cuts, but there is no visible external cut. This technique may not work for severe deformities. If the goal of the surgery is to reduce the size of the tip, the cartilage will be removed or reworked. This will result in a more defined nose tip. To form a crease, two incisions on either side of your face are made for narrowed noses. The surgeon will try to make the scars look as natural as possible.
